Balazs Bercsenyi – Inner World

Cover designed by Marco Michetti @mvrcmatter

In this exclusive interview with Tattoodemy, Balazs shares his journey, his philosophy of tattooing as a deeply human experience, and how intuition and collaboration shape his distinctive creations.

Your approach to tattooing seems to have a meditative component.
How much do concentration, ritual and your inner vision influence your creative process?

«

I would say that my inner world is directly being reflected in my work, so wherever i am mentally, that is where i create from.

I do not do any specific ritual before, during and after tattooing, it is way more about being present with the client, and through that presence, I respond to my clients.

»

Your travels and studies have certainly enriched your art.
Is there a place, culture, or experience that has profoundly changed the way you view tattooing and art in general?

«

It is tough to pick one spot, I get inspired basically everywhere i go.

If i had to pick a few spots, Bali, Kauai, New York, and Rome were special experiences.

»

Your approach to tattooing is very technical and detailed.
What has been your learning journey and how did working in top studios shape your vision of tattooing and artistic approach?

«

It all comes down to the fact that i am doing this for 17 years now.
The first few years was about picking up technical skills, and practicing tattooing different body parts, stenciling etc and later i was able to focus more on the design and deepening my relationship with clients.
I got a lot of help from co-workers, they showed me skills and knowledge that i am very grateful for.

Working in top studios was a beautiful experience. It helped me to master my skills and also showed me some things i dont want to do or i want to do differently, so it was a precious times in all ways.

Every tattoo you create has incredible visual depth.
How does the idea for a new project come to life and what is the process you follow to develop it?
Does the relationship with your client influence your creative process?

«

I am very intuitive and make extremely fast decisions, sometimes when a client tells me what they want as an idea, i already have some “downloads” regarding their design, so it comes to me very naturally and unconsciously.

As I progress in this craft and i get older it becomes less about me and what i want, and more about my clients and their ideas.
In this sense i am just a vessel/guide for them.

Your work has inspired many emerging artists.
How do you think a tattoo artist can contribute to the evolution of tattoo art?

«

Just be you, and do everything that makes you happy, and follow your spark, and don’t do art based on what others are doing.

You can be inspired by everything, I think there is a unique path for each of us to walk on, we just have to find that and follow it, regardless of the outcome.
