The glimmer effect
What is a glimmer?
A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger. It’s a small, unexpected moment that makes you feel safe, grounded, present.
A smell, a sound, an image, something that reconnects you with yourself in a fraction of a second.
People have always carried pieces of their story on their skin.
A name, a date, a symbol, something that belongs to a moment, a person, a version of themselves they don’t want to lose. Something abstract that only the person wearing it truly knows the meaning of.
That’s nothing new.
What’s new is the world around it.
Chronic overstimulation, infinite scroll, a reality that changes faster than we can process it.
The nervous system is always on alert and the need for something permanent has never been more urgent.
A tattoo doesn’t disappear with the next update.
It exists whether you’re connected or not. It doesn’t get lost in a feed. It’s simply there, every day on the skin.
A glimmer you carry with you always.
The tattoo has always been the most human way of making something permanent.
In the glimmer era, it becomes something even more essential.
The thing you stop and look at for a moment, and in that moment, everything is still.
