Océane, professionally known as Vivaldi, is a tattoo artist known for her delicate floral X-ray style, blending transparency, softness and organic forms.
In this exclusive interview with Tattoodemy, we explore her journey and her evolving artistic language.
PERSONAL
You started tattooing very young at 16, and now you’re 23.
Looking back, do you feel tattooing shaped who you are, or did you already know who you were becoming?
I grew into adulthood through this profession, so it inevitably shaped the person I am.
I had known for years that I wanted to tattoo, without knowing where it would lead me.
I think it’s mainly the process of evolving through the freedom of my passion that made me who I am and helped me feel aligned with myself.
»
Do you feel a distance between Océane and Vivaldi, or have they slowly become the same person over time?
«
I am definitely just Océane, and Vivaldi is only my professional pseudonym.
There aren’t two different identities between who I am and what I do.
However, those who know me understand that I prefer to be called Océane rather than Vivaldi.

LEARN
When you were still experimenting, what helped you understand that X-ray was your style?
At the beginning, my style was more focused on blackwork, with thick, raw lines.
Then I discovered this way of reproducing organic elements with a sense of transparency, and I loved recreating them.
It may be a coincidence, but in middle school we had to do a professional internship of our choice; no tattoo artist would accept me because I was too young (14yo), so I ended up doing it in a clinic in Switzerland, in the medical imaging department (radiology, MRI).
It’s funny that I still managed to become a tattoo artist — and that this experience eventually became my x-ray creative style.

CREATE
Your X-ray tattoos feel transparent, almost vulnerable. What does the word “X-ray” and this style mean to you beyond the visual effect?
«
It helped me a lot to create things that were lighter, softer, and more delicate.
It truly represents the moment when I myself softened in life in general.
I was originally a depressed and angry teenager;
I grew up and learned a lot about myself, and I think that shows in what I create.
LEAD
At your age, many artists are still searching, while you’ve already become a reference.
When you stop and think about it, are you aware of it, and what does it feel like?
Indeed, I am young, but I started this profession at 17, and since that day my entire life has revolved around it.
This evolution therefore seems inevitable when you take that into account. I believe many people are capable of this, as long as they are aligned with themselves and do things with passion, love, and honesty.
